Featured Review: NERF Fire Vision Sports Football

Just because it's getting dark outside, doesn't mean the games have to end. My 10 year-old son and his classmates were able to find this out as they enjoyed an impromptu game of football on a warm night after... a NERF Birthday Party! The Bzz Agent campaign invitation for the NERF Fire Vision campaign arrived just a few days before my son's classmate's 10th birthday party invitation arrived. I was very excited about being able to get a sneak peek at the NERF Fire Vision Sports Football and having a group of 5th graders tell me what they think of playing football outside in the dark. 

While my son and 9 other boys ran around the gym of a local sports club, diving for cover behind the padded gymnastics mats at the much anticipated NERF themed birthday party, I chatted with the 4 moms and an aunt about being a Bzz Agent and having the opportunity to try the NERF Fire Vision Football. Unlike other products and services I have reviewed in the past, this one was still in the package. I was going to let the kids tell me about the football. Honestly, they would know better than I would.

After the party, my "Dr. Dreams" and three of his classmates took turns playing catch outside, in an area free from trees and other potentially dangerous obstacles that might be hidden in the dark. All I can say is "Cool!", to quote each and every 10 year-old boy. The glowing lights on the ball were clearly visible and in the excitement of the game, they forgot the were wearing the protective-shield like glasses and playing in the dark with NERF's junior-sized Microprism Technology football. Of course, the moms were on standby for any close calls with trees, rocks, branches or other boys, and thankfully we were without incident. I recommend close adult supervision while playing, because of the risks involved with playing in the dark. We used 2 pairs of glasses and had 2 "referees", then switched.

The NERF Fire Vision Sports Football was a definite winner with the boys and is on the Christmas wish list of just about all forty 5th grade students in my son's school (word of mouth Bzz!). One mom was still raving about the football a week later at a school event. I love the product tag line and it's worth repeating, "Lights Out! Game On!"
