”I did something really stupid once, I…"
decided to take a short cut back
to our hotel while vacationing in Kissimmee. It was the end of a very long day which began with an early visit to one of the 17,000 amusement parks in the Orlando/Kissimmee area, included the traditional rain out and reroute to our Plan B activity. Our Plan B activity was an amusement and shopping locale similar to the boardwalk at the beach, only mainland, conveniently located off the main highway and close to hotels.
The day was done, the kids were done and the fun was done, cue the whining. Well, their father was of course no where to be found when we were ready to leave and I was carrying a three year-old weigh as much as a sumo wrestler. So what did I decide to do? I decided to stray from the far off paved and well lit pathway leading to the beckoning main lobby of our hotel just "next door". There was no need to be so civilized as to walk on the path when I could walk in the grass where we saw the wild turkeys enjoying the morning sun. Yes, let's do that. Let's take two young children and walk through a dark, field where we saw large game birds earlier, I decided.
I truly thank God for His protection. That was no dark, grassy field, it was a dark, grassy swamp. Hello? This is Florida! I walked shin-deep through a Florida swamp with my two young children. I still shudder to think... Oh yeah! I did something really stupid once!
I have never been near a swamp in my life, but I am just so glad that god was with you and that you all made it back to your hotel safely. Can't even imagine, but I would say that even though I don't have experience with I am sure I could have easily done this one, too!! Thanks Denise for linking up again!! :)
ReplyDeleteI thought you were going to say you guys got mauled by the turkeys on your way by. Lucky it was only shin deep!! :(
ReplyDeleteOh boy, that's scary. I remember walking through Washington, DC on a secluded, dark road with one of my girlfriends when I was like 19. Dumb!! I look back and know God was watching over me that night.
