Giving, Reading and World Book Night 2013

To date, this year has been full of so many new opportunities and achievements.  I am proud to announce that World Book Night 2013 is an upcoming event that is providing an additional new opportunity and achievement to add to my list of credits.  I have been selected as one of many individual applicants chosen to be a book giver. I will be able to give the gift of reading to people not likely to read for interest.

The backstory of World Book Night, a non-profit organization is "dedicated to spreading the love of reading, person to person." The annual event takes place on April 23, thousands of  book givers hand out about half a million copies of the selected World Book Night paperback books locally.  This year I will distribute Paulo Coehlo's The Alchemist, a highly recommended read. The UK successfully originated World Book Night in 2011, the US followed in 2012.

I look forward to being able to participate as a book giver combining two of my life passions; reading and community service. "World Book Night is about giving books and encouraging reading in those who don’t regularly do so. But it is also about more than that: It’s about people, communities and connections, about reaching out to others and touching lives in the simplest of ways—through the sharing of stories."  Look for my detailed post soon.  Can you get involved in World Book Night?
