The Mother Co. Helps Empower Our Kids with "Miles is the Boss of His Body"

I am a mom therefore by nature, I don't scare very easily. However, when I read the disconcerting fact that "90% of the harm done to children is not by a stranger, but by someone that they know", I was scared out of my mind. Would your child be able to speak up and take action and know the difference between safe and unsafe touching?

Miles is the Boss of His Body is the latest book from The Mother Company, inspired by this unfortunate fact about the safety of our children. Reflecting on all other the tragic stories of increasing numbers of children being hurt and abused, surprisingly often at the hands of the very family members and caregivers that are entrusted with their well-being. Authored by Samantha Kurtzman-Conter and Abbie Schiller, this book shows parents that education and empowering our children is our best defense against the frightening statistics. Today is the day and now is the time to take action.

Miles is the bright-eyed, pepperoni pizza loving little boy about to learn a valuable lesson on his sixth birthday, as he also teaches his family a lesson. Having been made to feel uncomfortable by the well-meaning touches from his family and friends, Miles decides that it is time to do something about this situation. While Miles is able to find his voice and become "the boss of his body", too many of our children are unable to find the courage to speak up.
