Explore NYC's Metropolitan Museum of Art with niecyisms and nestlings' #metkids Advisor

Family, fine art and fun. Can fine art really be considered fun? Absolutely, if your museum docent for the day is your newly appointed tween son, an official #metkids Advisor! Take a look at our recent visit to the world famous Metropolitan Museum of Art located on New York City's prestigious Museum Mile. With that being said, I now introduce the extraordinary blogging talents of my very own tween, Donnie's Domain. In the spirit of nepotism, he has somehow managed to keep his position as my #metkids Guest Blogger.  In the real world, he'd be one starving artist.

Here's a #metkids fun fact- Did you know that the Met contains over two million pieces of art? It's true! The Metropolitan Museum of Art is one of the largest museums in the United States. It's really an enormous museum and we didn't get to see everything during our visit, but we tried to see as much as possible. 

I was invited along with a group of kids about my age to attend a meeting to advise some of the creative staff members about some of the galleries and exhibits that I find interesting. Our job was to help to make The Met museum more kid-friendly and to think of ways for kids to learn more of the information that the museum has to offer. One of the questions we were asked to discuss was what would be most appealing to see on a museum website. We all had some really interesting ideas and had lots of fun thinking and planning together. 

Next stop, I went to meet my little brother and my mom so that we could take a look at the museum map to find my favorite gallery in the American Wing. During a class visit to The Met, we went to a gallery that housed a pioneer house from the Frontier time period. Unfortunately, that wing was closed to visitors while the museum took cake of renovations. We took a detour to my other favorite gallery, the Musical Instruments. I play the trombone and I hope to learn how to play the ukele soon. I saw so many amazing musical instruments. We stopped to take lots of pictures (no flash photos!) of some of our favorite exhibits as we traveled from one side of the museum to the opposite side of the museum. We saw so much and we walked so much too! 

Take a look at some of the fun our family had while we explored the Metropolitan Museum of Art! We ended our visit with a quick trip to the Museum Shop and lunch at the cafeteria. My brother loved the taxi cab kids meal!
