Read your heart out. Sign me up! This month is serving up a winning combination of some of my personal passions- reading, writing and sharing. Pizza Hut has established a reputation as being very committed to advocating for children's literacy which is promoted through their exclusive BOOK IT! reading incentive program. Nationwide elementary schools are teaming up with Pizza Hut to reward readers.
Pizza Hut states that, "This month is kind of a big deal among certain circles when it comes to books and reading and even writing. The month is action-packed with such events as National Young Readers Week (November 10-14) and National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). It's also the month that Jeff Kinney releases his much anticipated ninth book in the popular Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, The Long Haul."

What is National Young Readers Week?
National Young Readers Week is an annual event that was co-founded in 1989 by Pizza Hut® and the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress. To make this week special, many schools recruit local “celebrities” to read aloud a favorite children’s book to classrooms.
To celebrate, classrooms and families will get the chance to listen to one free story each day during the week (November 10-14) courtesy of BOOK IT! and One More Story. Here's the schedule:

Children learn to enjoy reading by example. When they see adults whom they admire and look up to reading, your students will be more likely to read for enjoyment as well. Meeting people from many different fields helps to reinforce the fact that reading plays an important role in any career a person chooses.
Celebrities include local officials, sports figures, public safety officers, parents and other guests from the community.
