Can Do Duck: The Musical is a lively, interactive performance with an encouraging message for kids as well as adults. Giving kids the empowerment to believe in yourself is a powerful affirmation that begins with the simple words, "I can". Based upon the classic children's book series, "Can Do Duck", written by Duktor Morty, M.D. and his family, the Can Do Duck has come brilliantly to life on an Off-Broadway stage. Energetically performed under Stage Director, Arielle, this show is especially close to her heart as she is not only one of the author's daughters- she is also a co-illustrator of the original story written by her father during her elementary school days.
"In this timeless, inspirational tale, written by a father and illustrated by his two young children and wife, the duck and the reader learn that they can do what they put their minds to. It is a picture book that teaches and entertains at the same time. Children (and adults) of all ages will enjoy this fun, rhyming book while they learn its positive message."
Enjoying a family-friendly musical is an excellent introduction to live theater for children. My toddler, "Busy" is 3 years old and the hour long musical was perfect entertainment within his attention span. The incorporation of music and movement and audience participation provided a personable and welcoming environment for kids and parents to have a "feel good" moment. I even saw my tween look like, he kinda, sorta, maybe wanted to get ducky. Maybe he will the next time we see the show, the toddler informed me that, "I can go see Can Do Duck again." I think he got the message, well done Can Do Duck: The Musical!
