Reaching out to connect with one another is how I was able to be introduced to a few basic essential oils, along with a few recipes for making my own DIY green cleaning products. Beginners Guide to Green Living DIY Natural Products with Essential Oils

Curiosity about preventative ways to keep my family healthy and learning ways in which dōTERRA can help to reduce the discomfort of so many health conditions was of great personal interest. Knowing a little about essential oils and not very much about dōTERRA, it was surprising to learn that essential oils have traditionally been used in food preparation, beauty treatments, and for personal health and wellness.

Essential oils are extracted from bark, seeds, stems, roots, flowers, and other parts of the plant using the steam of distillation or by cold pressed extraction.

Suzanne explains, "Have you ever squeezed an orange peel or walked through a garden of flowers and enjoyed their fragrances? If so, you have already experienced an example of the aromatic qualities of essential oils. While essential oils are vital in the development and health of plants, individuals have long been able to benefit from their natural benefits in many aspects of day-to-day life."

My introduction to essential oils began with Lemon, lavender, peppermint, wild orange and ginger. With allergies causing sneezing, red and itchy eyes and sinus congestion, the combination of Lemon, lavender and peppermint  was recommended by Suzanne as a topical application for seasonal allergy relief. I'm enjoying a little aromatherapy from using ginger and peppermint for motion sickness and nausea. I also use peppermint to help when I feel the onset of a migraine.

Rubbing just a few drops of peppermint and wild orange essential oils is an aromatic and invigorating, mood booster that really gets me feeling rejuvenated. I highly recommend this quick mental reset!

When selecting oils for personal use there are two most important factors to consider in the effectiveness and quality of essential oils. The organic plant potency and the essential Oil purity. If the growing conditions of the plants are not meeting optimal conditions, the efficacy of the oil is comprised. Likewise, oils that contain contaminants such as filler, pesticides or other chemical residues or have been diluted, diminish their purity and strength. The effects of essential oils are most beneficial when used in their purest form.

A contributing factor to Suzanne and so many other independent distributors, referred to as Wellness Advocates are supporters of the dōTERRA brand is the "production and distribution of exceptionally high quality Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade (CPTG) essential oils." In reviewing the product selections, I observed that dōTERRA also offers products that are "naturally safe, purely effective, and infused with their CPTG essential oils, including personal care and spa products, nutritional supplements, and healthy living products."
It's an sad reality to know that we are introduced to more harmful toxins on a daily basis than our ancestors were exposed to in their entire lives. As an advocate for green living for our family, I enjoy finding those brands and products that can help our family and other families to reduce our contact with toxins in our environments.

Here are a few ways that dōTERRA products can help to turn your home into a green home with their products and D0 It Yourself (DIY) household products based from essential oils.
