Folks, Flaws, and the Fortitude of Fences

"Some people build fences to keep people out — and other people build fences to keep people in." Troy Maxson, Fences

Our neighbors have a fence. We don't. At times, I admire the fence standing around their property, it's visually appealing. Their fence makes a great landmark for visitors to our home. Coming from the North, we're the house just past the white fence, from the South, if you pass the fence, turn around, you missed our driveway. I don't know why our neighbors have a fence or who were the contractors that installed their fencing. I don't know my neighbors at all. Contemplating this reality stemmed from truths based upon folks, flaws and the fortitude of Fences.

Folks, Flaws and the Fortitude of Fences

Powerful and revealing, Oscar®-nominated movie Fences
recently adapted for the big screen by iconic playwrightAugust Wilson from his own renowned original play. Introducing the life and times of Troy Maxson, portrayed and directed by Denzel Washington, as a former Negro-league baseball player in the 1950s. Settled in Pittsburgh, he struggles to stand as his family's provider and patriarch enduring racial injustices, life choices and the power of love and redemption.

Mesmerized by the emotional, award-winning performances of both Denzel Washington and Viola Davis, it is my pleasure to announce that as of March 14th, Fences is available for purchase on Blu-ray™ Combo Pack and single disc DVD. Personally, I highly recommend experiencing the brilliance of Fences for yourself, more than just once for a true appreciation of the complexity and depth of the characters. Agreeably one of the best movies of the year, August Wilson's play translates flawlessly from stage to screen. Fences masterfully crafts a tale of folks, flaws, and the fortitude of fences.
