This is the only time I'll ever make this humiliating confession, especially being that I'll be doing better moving forward. My son has absolutely no idea that despite giving my very best effort and coming extremely close to winning a few times, I don't know how to play the game of chess. Honestly, there would be nothing to confess if I swallowed my pride and allowed my Kindergartner at the time to teach me how to play the game. Instead, I decided to fast track the process by reading his facial cues as I selected pieces to move, before confirming acceptable moves each piece is allowed to make across the board. Let's all I agree that honesty is the best policy. It's time for me to tell a new story. While spending more time at home, I casually decided to perfect my subpar chess skills. How did I learn to master the game of chess? I learned the inside story of Story Time Chess.

Learn the Inside Story of Story Time Chess
Why should children learn how to play chess? From my observations of my sons in the process of learning to understand and perfect their chess playing skills, the ability to strategize and competitively plan became a strong motivating factor. Engaging in a game of skill, rather than traditional games of chance brings out a higher level of sportsmanship that was a joy to see as a parent.
