If you were ever curious about the definition of independent, allow me to introduce myself. My "Can Do" perspective stems from my extreme mash-up of strong-will and creative thought. Viewed from a more global perspective, the independence and individuality we each possess serves a greater purpose. We are most powerful when we pool our collective resources in unity for the greater good. Unity Day is a prime demonstration of our influence as a united collective. Launched in 2011, Unity Day is now observed annually on either the third or fourth Wednesday of National Bullying Prevention Month in October. Increasing in influence, Unity Day stands as our call to action to eliminate the negative impact of bullying. We can do this. There are so many reasons why we all need to plan for Unity Day EVERY day in our fight to end bullying.

Why You Need to Plan for Unity Day EVERY Day
Understanding the vital importance mental health holds in our overall wellness has benefited us not only as individuals, we benefit as a society. Not too long ago, bullying was considered to be expected as a developmental rite of passage. Victim-shaming has been revealed as problematic.
Unity Day is a means of empowering targeted populations and diminishing instances of bullying. Uniting our youth, families, educators, businesses, and communities delivers the powerful message that bullying will not be accepted. As a progressive culture, all students are entitled
to the right to feel safe in our schools, online, and in our communities.
What is Unity Day?
An event created by PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center, to come together in one giant ORANGE message of hope and support. WEAR AND SHARE ORANGE to color our nation, and even the world, to visibly show that our society believes no child should ever experience bullying.
Here's your call to action, wear and share the color orange to demonstrate your support of message that we stand in unity to prevent bullying, and is united for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. Your voice matters. We all can wear orange and share this anti-bullying message. By simply wearing orange as a collective, no one should feel alone. Let's empower one another to speak out and reach out against bullying.
"As Unity Day is held during October, orange is a color commonly identified with the month and the autumn season. It is also a color that is associated with safety and visibility. It is a color described as warm and inviting, and its vibrancy makes an impactful statement. Orange was also a color that was not being used by another widely known cause."
