As a parent and educator, I combined traditional phonetic skills, high frequency sight words, with innovative technology for a hybrid approach to teaching little learners to read. Technology has greatly improved ways we teach and learn. In our digital age, tech helps make screen time for reading time more engaging, interactive, and readily accessible for emerging, intermediate, as well as avid readers. Nationwide literacy events, such as Read Across America (celebrated March 2nd in honor of the birthday of Dr. Seuss, the beloved children's author), is organized by the National Education Association (NEA) to promote reading, emphasizing diversity in literature, genres, and authors.
