That Moment When You Find Your Song

I truly love music. A few years ago I came across a quote that made so much sense to me as I reflected in the message within these words- "When you're happy, you enjoy the music. When you're sad, you understand the lyrics." Yes! This is so truthful when you take a moment to reflect, music is an emotional experience. Then, I thought about the connections we may experience between music and life. For myself, I have music that definitely moves me toward joy (and dancing), and there are songs that I hold the message of the lyrics in my heart to help me to continue to move forward. Sometimes, music will fall into the background as I am seemingly disconnected and just going through the motions of every day living. We had the privilege of partnering with Pure Flix for an advanced screening of the inspirational movie, God’s Country Song. Sharing a family's story of faith, fatherhood, and forgiveness the message of this movie touched my heart. As a man in the midst of inner turmoil discovers for himself, that moment when you find your song.

Noah has always resented his father for not supporting his dreams of fame and fortune, but when he learns how his father gave up his own ambitions to serve God and his family, he learns a valuable lesson. God’s Country Song is a heartfelt movie on what it means to be a father and place your family before your ambitions. Noah feels conflicted in his relationship with his father, as a result of his lack of support in his musical career. 

Through a series of events, Noah is challenged with struggles in his life that he never could have imagined. How often have you found yourself in this situation? Life is quite unpredictable, and there are those defining moments when the tone of the message in music we feel in our spirit begins to change. At this point, Noah is in time able to discover the true meaning of family as he reconnects with his faith, his father, and his true purpose in life.
