Thinking back to a family outing to the Bronx Zoo, there happened to be a period of approximately ten minutes where I realized that all four of the adults in our group managed to lose sight of my six-year old son. My heart skipped a frantic beat as I immediately began to spiral into all of the ways I allowed this terrible mishap to occur. We were fortunate enough to be able to find him safely walking about, only barely aware that we were all silently panicked and searching throughout the area to find him. Imagine being just 12-years-old and suddenly separated from your family and friends in the darkness of a storm while out on an hike. This happened, and the incredible true story is now a movie based on the bestselling book, Lost on a Mountain in Maine. We were given the privilege of an advanced screening of the movie and were astounded by the thrilling account of Donn Fendler's unbelievable experience of being Lost on a Mountain in Maine.

"The inspiring true story of 12-year-old Donn Fendler who, separated from his family by a fast-moving storm, must fight to stay alive while lost for nine-days in the remote wilderness of northern Maine. Donn’s disappearance captures national headlines and sparks a massive search effort attracting hundreds of volunteers, including his own father who fears he may never see his son again."
80 Miles—9 Days—1 Step at a Time
Captivating my full attention, I was mesmerized by the heartbreaking events of Donn and his family's story. During a casual visit to the peak of Maine's legendary Mt. Katahdin with his twin brother, father and family friends, Donn Fendler found himself lost in the fog, high above the clouds. Alone in a vast expanse which was described as being "surrounded by no man's land of wilderness". Miraculously enduring an arduous trek of over eighty miles, lasting nine days alone in the wilderness of Mount Katahdin, Donn was beyond the point of exhaustion, starving, dehydrated, underdressed, and carried no supplies—surviving against all odds.
Presenting an outstanding example of faith and determination, I could only imagine that feeling when you discover that you are lost on a mountain in Maine. Enduring the element's freezing temperatures, wind, and rain, Don's survival skills earned him the Army and Navy Legion of Valor's medal from President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Connecting with Donn Fendler's story, Sylvester Stallone’s artistic vision as producer, brings to life an epic quest of a determined young man in a battle for his life against the force of nature. Finding family-friendly movies delivering powerful, inspirational stories or real life overcomers has become a major challenge for today's families. I highly recommend coming together with family and friends to buy your tickets today to brave the elements to see Lost on a Mountain in Maine in theaters.
