Sweeteners

Mixing in a sweetener is not for every one and certainly a matter of personal preference. Adding in a natural sweetener like honey, maple syrup, sugar, agave nectar, simple syrup or even orange juice balance the tartness of the wine or carbonated beverage and fruits.

Served as a cocktail, sangria is made with alcohol. A mocktail recipe can mix in club soda, soda water, lemon-lime soda, or tonic for fizziness.

Non-Alcoholic Sangria

Ingredients

4 Cups Pomegranate Juice

2 Cups Cranberry Juice

2 Cups Carbonated Beverage (add just before serving)

1 Orange (sliced)

1 Lemon (sliced)

1 Apple (cored and sliced)

1/2 Cup Cranberries

2-3 Cinnamon Sticks

Instructions

- Combine pomegranate juice, cranberry juice, orange slices, lemon slices, diced apple, fresh cranberries, pomegranate seeds, and cinnamon sticks in a large pitcher or punch bowl.

- Mix well, cover, and refrigerate to let the flavors blend while chilling for at least 2 hours (or overnight).

- Prior to serving, add the carbonated beverage to the sangria and gently mix together.
